Lutz Wiegart

Coherent Hard X-ray Beamline Physicist, Photon Division

Lutz Wiegart joined us from the European Synchrotron Radiation Facilitiy (ESRF) in Grenoble, France. As a postdoctoral fellow he supported user experiments with coherent x-rays in the fields of XPCS and CDI.

Wiegart holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Dortmund in Germany, completing his thesis on the Low Temperature Self-Assembly of Organic Monolayers, employing the first use of cryo-protective subphases enabled the study of Langmuir monolayers at temperatures far below the freezing point of water.

Working under the direction of the Andrei Fluerasu, Wiegart will be responsible for the development of a scientific research program and its technical implementation at the coherent hard x-ray scattering beamline, including its design, construction, and commissioning.
