Steven O'Hara

Mechanical Engineer, Beamline Support, NSLS-II Experimental Facilities Division


Prior to joining NSLS-II, Steve O’Hara worked at BAE Systems in Greenlawn, NY, a manufacturer of reconnaissance and surveillance systems for high and low altitude aircraft for military applications. He has over 20 years of extensive experience in structural and thermal Analysis, FEA, dynamic modeling, noise and vibration, and testing.

Steve attained his MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University and his Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is currently enrolled in the PhD program in Mechanical Engineering at Syracuse.

Reporting directly to Andy Broadbent, Steve’s responsibilities include specification, design, analysis, fabrication, procurement, installation, and commissioning of X-ray beamline optical and mechanical subsystems for the NSLS-II Project. He will also provide technical guidance to project designers and technicians while producing detailed activity reports.
