Gregory Fries

Liaison-Manufacturing Engineer, NSLS-II Accelerator Systems Division


Prior to joining NSLS-II on June 15th, Greg Fries was employed as senior project engineer and project manager for a medical device manufacturing facility.

Greg attained his Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Hofstra University, and he attained his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. He has 10 years of experience in engineering and 5 years of experience specifically in engineering management.

Reporting directly to Ferdinand Willeke, Greg’s responsibilities include, in part: participation in engineering design reviews; configuration management activities; evaluation of manufacturing capabilities and technical capabilities of potential suppliers; review and development of production and assembly plans; planning, preparation and tracking of procurements; development of in-house fabrication, test, and assembly facilities; interaction with project controls group to facilitate progress reports, and scheduling updates and refinements of work and staffing plans.
