Lonny Berman

Lonny is Head of the BNL Photon Sciences Directorate Beamline Development Group. He was the spokesperson for the NSLS insertion device beamline X25 from its inception, from which he stepped down in May 2010. He is also a Co-PI of the PXRR -- A Resource for Macromolecular Crystallography at the NSLS, which is sponsored by NIH NCRR.

Lonny Berman investigates and makes possible novel aspects and uses for synchrotron x-ray diffraction and photoemission. He develops x-ray optics and related instrumentation, with careful attention to matching to source properties and experimental requirements. More recently he has devoted considerable time and effort toward the design and development of new and upgraded beamlines, at both NSLS and NSLS-II.

In addition, Lonny plays a part-time role in experimental facilities development for NSLS-II.
