Hsiao-Chaun Hseuh

NSLS-II Vacuum Group Leader


Hsiao-Chaun (Dick) Hseuh is the Vacuum Group Leader for NSLS II and is responsible for the design, construction and commissioning of the vacuum systems in NSLS II accelerator complex. Dick has been working at BNL for over 30 years and has been responsible for the construction and operation of several large accelerator vacuum systems in and outside BNL. He was in charge of the vacuum R&D for Isabelle Project, the AGS vacuum system operation, and the construction of vacuum systems for HITL, AGS Booster, the g-2 muon storage ring, RHIC and the SNS accumulator ring in ORNL. Dick has consulted with and reviewed several accelerator vacuum systems at other US and international laboratories. Dick was previously vacuum system section head at Collider-Accelerator Department prior to join the NSLS II team.

Dick has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from National Tsinghua University in Taiwan and a PhD in Nuclear Chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
